Air France fined for kicking pro-Palestinian activist off flight
French court convicts Air France of discrimination for removing Horia Ankour from a Nice-Tel Aviv flight last April • Ankour was trying reach the West Bank via Ben-Gurion International Airport as part of a “flightilla” • Air France to appeal court’s decision.
A French court has convicted Air France of discrimination for removing a pro-Palestinian activist from a plane as she tried to take part in a “flightilla” to Israel last April.
The court ordered Air France to pay 13,000 euros ($16,700) in fines, damages and interest to Horia Ankour, a 30-year-old nursing student who sought to travel to the West Bank via Ben-Gurion International Airport as part of the “Welcome to Palestine” campaign.
Ankour boarded a Tel Aviv-bound Air France plane in Nice. Before takeoff, however, she was asked by an Air France employee whether she had an Israeli passport. When she said no, she was asked whether she was Jewish. After answering no again, she was ordered off the plane.
Air France said that Ankour’s name appeared on a list given to it by Israeli authorities of people who would not be permitted to enter Israel.
Air France lawyer Fabrice Pradon said on Thursday that the airline would appeal the court’s decision.
So Israel provides a list of people that will not be allowed into Israel to airlines companies in the EU.
From what I understand if the airlines had allowed this woman to fly and she was refused entry into Israel, then Air France would have to eat the cost of her return to France.
I see zero discrimination here, I see a terrorist that was not allowed to fly. I also see in the judge an idiot that most likely is anti Israel.
Maybe we should let some of these terrorist into Israel and then have them have accidents.
